Hubby and I took a nice little day trip to Bogue Chitto State Park. We needed a nature day and to get away from the Holiday Stress. Here are just a few pictures:

    1. Thank you :) Sadly this is our winter in Louisiana. I would give anything for a real winter with some snow.

  5. I would trade you our snow and Friday's potential rain/ice storm for a beautiful walk in the park with changing leaves and mild Lousiana weather. Should we talk?

  9. What a beautiful area. Looks like a great place to get out and relax. This reminds me that we need to head out and have a day to relax in the woods or by the river and maybe do a little fishing.

  11. We used to have a year pass for our state parks when the kids were little! Alas, it seems I don't really go to them as much anymore. LOL Well, I DO live in the same woods as the parks are, so I have the same "things" I guess! We used to go to parks near us with lakes since that is the one thing we don't have! Or other features we don't have like cliffs and things for the kids to climb.

  27. I did a name search for Bogue Chitto and in Choctaw it means big creek. It also is used to refer to clear, swift flowing rivers. We have creeks, but am glad to say they are not swift flowing rivers. Our creeks usually are located behind someone's property.

  39. If you are still having mild weather, this would be a perfect place for "Northerners" to travel to, especially this winter. It's cold & the weatherman on our local station just warned us that it's going to get colder!
