Did you know that in just one year, one person will use around 500 single-use plastic bags?  That is just a mind boggling number when you think about how many people go into stores each day and when you try to do the math for just how many bags a year that is.  In my mind, I think about how if I had used reusable shopping bags, at most stores, that would mean I would have an extra $25 in my pocket based on the $0.05 return rate!
  • *A single plastic bag can take up to 1,000 years to degrade.
  • *Every square mile of ocean has about 46,000 pieces of plastic floating in it.
  • *Only 1 to 2% of plastic bags in the USA end up getting recycled.
Krista over at Savory Savings recently received an amazing reusable and recycled backpack from The ChicoBag Company.  This backpack is made from post-consumer plastic bottles and is not only fashionable but functional, too!  It it perfect for hiking, biking or day trips while camping.  You can take it to the grocery store for a quick run or to the park with snacks for a mini picnic.  When it is not in use, it folds up very compactly and fits in your pocket or purse!
Now you can have a chance to win an eco-friendly backpack!  This giveaway is open to US and Canadian residents only, ages 18 and older.  The giveaway will run from October 10, 2013 through October 24, 2013 at 11 PM CST.
Good luck!
