Beauty Box 5 Review

Everyone loves surprises in their mailbox. Well, surprises of fun things, not bills. Beauty Box 5 is a great subscription service of all types of beauty products. Every month a cute little box is sent to your home with beauty samples. You could get hair care, skin care, fragrance, nail care samples and more.
I was sent my own for a review.

I was so excited! Trying new beauty samples is so much fun.
Included in my box was:
A Red Sparkly Nail File
Heavenly Silk Anti-Aging and Firming Lotion
Nubar Nail Polish
Be a Bombshell Eyeshadow
H20+ Advanced Marine Firming Cream

Every month you receive 4-5 product samples for $12. And...Free Shipping!

For the price of one full size product you get to try several different things. Isn't it better to try products before you buy full size bottles. I have thrown so many things away because I bought them before I tried them and didn't like them.
Beauty Box 5 give you a chance to sample products that you may not have heard of before, and if you really like something in the box, just head over to Beauty Box 5 website for all the info on your products.
I had to try out the Nubar Nail Polish.

key ingredient logo

key ingredient recipe readerI was recently contacted by Key Ingredient and asked to check out their new Key Ingredient Recipe Reader. Similar in size to a tablet, it is made to be IN the kitchen, to sit on your counter and be used by a busy cook! No worry about if you just got sauce on your $500 tablet! Nope this reader has a easily wiped off cover (with a damp cloth) and is sturdy enough not to be easily knocked over. It has  large screen, easy to use interface (you almost don't need any instructions with it), large keyboard that pops up when needed and large font sizes. Plus you can adjust many of the settings to make it just right for YOU!

But the real fun with the reader?  You can input all those recipes sitting on index cards on that bookshelf! Now when you want to find Great Grandma's Pumpkin Pie recipe, you can just hunt by pumpkin, and voila!, there it is!  Only liked one recipe from that expensive cookbook you got for last Christmas? Easy peasy- put that recipe on the Recipe Reader and give away the cookbook- now someone else can enjoy it, and your bookshelf has some space! You can see how well you could get rid of all those excess cookbooks, can't you?

The screen is well laid out, and all the different controllers are on the bottom, while your library screen is right there! And as you can see the recipes are sorted based on your descriptions!

It is super easy to add a recipe to your collection on the program, with their formatted form (see below pix) add it to which library you want and ta-da your recipes are digital!

But there is more- it has not 1, but 3 timers on it! How handy is that especially with holiday cooking? And as you can see below, they are super easy to set! AND, yes there is more, it has a substitution list! Now you won't have to go hunting the internet to find what you can substitute an ingredient for, when you're in the middle of cooking the recipe! Just scroll down, find the ingredient you need to substitute, click on it and get a picture and possible substitutions.

Happy Memory

HAPPY MEMORY

I was having a talk with my youngest son who is sixteen years old. He is a quiet young man. On rare moments, he will open up and have deep conversations. He asked me if I remembered a vacation that we took two years ago. I told him, "Sure".
My Hubby had a training class and was out of town. I decided to take a small vacation with my children. We went to a Louisiana State Park and rented one of the beautiful cabins. It was only a three day vacation, but it meant the world to my kids. The reason it was so special is that two of my children are adults now. My oldest son is twenty-seven. My daughter is twenty-one. We rarely get a chance to spend time together. My oldest two children work full time as I do, and my youngest is in school.
We spent time walking and playing on the beach, playing cards and talking.

My youngest was laughing and asked me if I remembered what his older brother did to him. I wasn't sure what he was talking about. He said that his brother ran in the room and told him he had to come outside because there were girls in bikini's on the beach. Being a typical teenage boy he ran outside only to find a few middle age and out of shape women in bathing suits. His brother laughed and they chased each other around. As he was telling this story to me, he would stop and laugh.

You see, this was his memory. The fun and the laughter is what he remembers. After our talk I starting thinking of how I hope he has plenty of those type of memories. I hope for all my children as they get older that they can have those laughs even years later.
I realized how much I wish they were little again. Time went by too fast. It seems like I blinked and they grew up.

Camels Love Spice Etsy Store Review and Giveaway

Everyone loves spices. One of the problems I have when we travel is having to tote around all of my spices. Hubby and I recently went to a fishing camp on a mini vacation. We love to cook what we catch when we go. I usually have to bring all of my spices with me. Being from Louisiana, we love to spice up our food. I was looking for a travel kit to make things easier.
I came across a wonderful little Etsy Store that I just couldn't pass up.
CamelsLoveSpice

CamelsLoveSpice makes travel kits that are perfect for RV's, College Students, and anyone that loves to travel as much as I do. Melanie, the owner of CamelsLoveSpice has traveled to the Middle East and has brought her love of aromatic spices to her store. I was sent the travel set that included 30 different spices. All of the spices are fresh and are packaged in cute containers which makes cooking easy on go.

I made a pork loin using the Parsley, Herbs de Provence, and Ground Malabar Black Pepper. The aroma filled the house. Every container I opened filled my senses with fresh herbs. I can't wait to try all of them.

This is a perfect gift for just about anyone. Just look at all the spices that were included!

6 Fun Little Facts About Taste Buds

I really hate when I burn my tongue. My tongue seems to take forever to heal, and it kills the taste of food for awhile. I came across some fun little facts about our taste buds that I just had to share with you.

6 Fun things to know about your taste buds:

1. The bumps on your tongue are not taste buds. Some of your taste buds are inside those little bumps.
Your taste buds are also on the roof of your mouth and in your throat.

2. Everyone has a different amount of taste buds. Some people have up to 10,000 taste buds and they
are called "Super Tasters".

3. There is a difference between Taste and Flavor.
Taste is what your taste buds pick up. They are sweet, sour, bitter and salty . Flavor is a combination of taste plus smell.

4 . Your tastes for different foods can change.
Did you know that if you eat something you love and then get sick with a stomache bug, you can have an aversion for that food for a long time? If you hated broccoli as a child and love it as an adult, it could be because it was cooked differently. Sometimes adding cheese or certain spices can bring out the "good" flavor to food. So maybe it's time to give those nasty brussel sprouts another try.

5. Ohhh the hormones!!
Pregnant women tend to crave sweet things. When a woman is pregnant, her taste buds change. Part of our survival instinct kicks in. Carbs are a usual thing for pregnant women to crave. Carbs give energy. Tasting bitter in foods protects pregnant women from things that could be poisonous, and protect the baby. See, it's ok to want ice cream or to suddenly hate lettuce. Our bodies are made that way.

6. Taste buds grow back. When you burn your tongue, your taste buds grow back in a few days. So even as we get older, those lovely little taste buds keep coming back.

Headache Hammock Review and Giveaway!!

While searching for something to relieve my stress headaches, I came across the
Headache Hammock
Most of my headaches are cause by stress and tension. I am constantly rubbing the base of my head and neck trying to relieve the pressure. I read everything I could find about it. I am very interested in anything that I can use that does not require taking medications. I have tried massagers and heating pads with only minimal relief.
I was sent the Headache Hammock to try. The great thing about it is that you can use warm or cold therapy with it. It can be warmed in the microwave or placed in the freezer. Cold seems to work best for my headaches so I placed it in the freezer for 20 minutes. I put the Headache Hammock on the ground and after just a couple of minutes I could feel the tension easing. After about 10 minutes my headache was gone. The only problem I had was that I didn't want to get up. I was so comfortable. The Headache Hammock felt like what I wish my pillow would do for my head at night.
It's difficult to see from the pictures, but it is made of foam and is very comfortable. It cradled my head and neck like it was made especially for me.

Here is a little more information on the Headache Hammock  from their website:
"By placing your head properly on the device, the specialized high density foam will lift up the head and mobilize the back of the skull called the occiput, allowing the entire head to float free in space, while at the same time applying gentle pressure to the muscular tension in the upper neck. When this occurs, the muscular tension will relax and the head will settle into the hammock of the device. In many cases, both acute and chronic headaches as well as neck pain will improve rapidly and when used regularly the Headache Hammock may reduce headache and neck pain completely."
"Developed by a doctorthe Headache Hammock is a FDA registered orthopedic traction headrest and is the naturalremedy for headaches, including certain types of migraines, as well as upper neck pain and muscle tension."

I loved this product and felt so much better after using it.
They offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied.
For a limited time the nice people at Headache Hammock are offering a 10% discount for all of my readers!!

Birthday in a Box Review

has been received or implied for this post. Nor was I told how to post about them. As with any product, your opinion may differ from mine.

My Husband and I love Halloween. We love it so much that we were married on Halloween. It is so much fun to spend our Anniversary every year dressing up in costumes and going out.
I was given a chance to review Birthday In A Box Plus Size Costume. There were so many to choose from, I had a hard time deciding. They have a huge selection of costumes both in regular and plus sizes. Not everyone is a size 6 and it is wonderful that there is a website for costumes that fit all women. I like quality costumes and don't want something that will fall apart before the night is over.
Here are a few of the designs that I was looking at:

I finally chose a design that I liked.
I didn't want to be the model, I get tired of seeing my own face all the time, so I enlisted the help of my best friend. Thanks Melissa!

This is the Greek Goddess Blue and
White Plus for $32.99. The fabric is beautiful and a great value for the price. You can even find matching accessories like the ones that I found:

Whether you are small or larger sizes, Birthday in a Box has everything you need for Halloween and more.
They have lots of party supplies for all ages. Hope you enjoy
Birthday In A Box as much as I do.
