1.Someone timed a rattlesnake mating session that lasted for 22.75 hours.

2. One out of every 43 prisoners escapes from jail. 94% are recaptured.


3. Some reconstituted tobacco contains the same ingredients found in a fart.

4. The term "devil's advocate" comes from the Roman Catholic church.
When deciding if someone should be sainted,
a devil's advocate is always appointed to give an alternative view.


5. In October 1959 Elizabeth Taylor became the first Hollywood star to receive
 $1 million for a single picture- Cleopatra.


6. Oak trees do not have acorns until they are fifty years old or older.

7. The fungus called truffles can cost $800 to $1,500 per pound.
They are sniffed out by female pigs, which detect a compound that is in the saliva of male pigs as well.
The same chemical is found in the sweat of human males.



8. Beards are the fastest growing hairs on the human body. If the average man never trimmed his beard,
 it would grow to nearly 30 feet long in his lifetime.


9. The Vatican's Swiss Guard still wears a uniform designed by Michelangelo in the early 16th century.

10. Morphine was given its name in 1803 by the discoverer, a 20 year old German pharmacist named Friedrich Saturner. He named it after Morpheus, after the Greek god of dreams.

  2. Not sure why someone would want to time a rattlesnake mating session. I'm more the type to try to leave the area of the rattlesnake not stick around. Interesting what some people will do.

  3. Very interesting facts, but the rattlesnake mating season, someone really did this! Wow kind of weird. I found it interesting about how morphine got its name.I did not know that! A pig sniffs out truffles and they cost that much. I am shocked on this one.

  5. I believe that about fast growing beard hair. Often guys easily get "shadows" and have to shave daily.

  7. I find it interesting learning about how words and phrases began. It's fun to see what they were originally meant for and how we use them today. I didn't know about the term "devil's advocate."
