Spicy Chipotle Martini Recipe

Spicy Chipotle Martini Recipe

Last year Hubby and I went on a cruise. One of the fun things we did was a Martini Tasting. There were several to choose from but the Spicy Chipotle Martini was by far my favorite. It had a sweet, spicy, minty kick. I knew I just had to have the recipe. Thankfully, a friend got it for me on her last cruise. I just had to share it with you. I found the Monin Syrup on Amazon.com. Enjoy! Please Don't Drink and Drive!

2 oz Vodka
1 oz Monin Chipotle Pineapple Syrup
1 oz Pineapple Juice
0.5 oz simple syrup
6-8 mint leaves

Garnish with Mint Leaf

Old Cell Phones Still Call 911

DO NOT ALLOW YOUR KIDS TO PLAY WITH YOUR PHONE
OR DISCONNECTED PHONE!!!!!!!

Please do not give your old phones to your children.

Forgive my rant on this topic. I am very familiar with this situation that I am writing about. Parents think it is cute to give an old cell phone to their small children. The problem with this is that old cell phones that are disconnected STILL CALL 911! Hundreds upon hundreds of call every day tie up 911 Emergency lines. 911 Dispatchers have to answer every one of those calls. Your child could cost someone their life. The time it takes to answer your child's call means that if someone with a real emergency is trying to call 911, their call will be delayed. Even seconds count. Imagine you or someone you love has just had a heart attack. You call 911. It rings several time before someone answers. To you or your loved one, that seems like a lifetime.

Did you know that Domestic Violence Victims are given old cell phones. Yep, it's true. They have them in case they ever need to call 911.

If your child is playing with an old phone and it dials 911, it could mean life or death for someone.

One Lucky Person Will Win The Dermagist Complete Rejuvenation System!!

I was contacted by Dermagist to do a review and giveaway for their products. I was really excited to try them. I am in my early 40's and the signs of aging have been creeping up on me for a few years now. Laugh lines, wrinkles on my chin and a deep crinkle on my forehead (thanks to my job) have become a part of my features as much as my eyes and nose. I am not a person that takes very good care of their skin, sunscreen being one of the only tools in my beauty regimen. Because of my lack of skin care, my age is showing. Dermagist made a big difference in the appearance of my skin. I tried the Complete Rejuvenation System for one month.

This is what I received to try:
One (1) Jar of  Original Smoothing Cream
One (1) Bottle of  Dynamic Age Defying Serum
One (1) Bottle of  Instant-Effect Lifting Serum
One (1) Instruction sheet detailing  exact use of the products

DAY 1: YIKES!!! LOOK AT THOSE WRINKLES!!!

DAY 14: OK, NOT A VERY GOOD PICTURE BUT THE WRINKLES ON MY CHIN ARE MUCH FINER. ALSO, THE DEEP WRINKLE ON MY FOREHEAD IS GOING AWAY. BYE BYE!!!

DAY 28: CHIN WRINKLES ARE STILL THERE BUT IT'S HARD TO SEE THEM. SKIN FEELS SOOO SMOOTH. SMALL WRINKLES AROUND MY EYES ARE VERY FINE NOW.  DEEP FOREHEAD WRINKLE...WELL, YOU HAVE TO LOOK REALLY CLOSE TO SEE IT.

I was very pleased with the results. My Hubby noticed the feel of my skin. My skin looks younger and feels smooth again. Thanks Dermagist!!!

One lucky reader will win the same Dermagist Rejuvenation System that I tried.

New Orleans Mint Julep Recipe

New Orleans Mint Julep Recipe

6 Fresh Mint Leaves
1 Tbsp Simple Syrup
2 oz. Bourbon
Crushed Ice
Wooden Spoon
Rocks Glass or a silver cup

Combine the mint and simple syrup in the bottom of the glass. Using the handle end of the spoon,
smash the leaves into the simple syrup . Add the Bourbon, then the top with lots of crushed ice,
stir, trying to keep the mint leaves on the bottom of the glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint and serve.

***Simple Syrup  1/3 cup water and 1/3 cup sugar, cooked just until the sugar disolves. Make a batch and
keep the left over in the fridge.

You need to use crushed ice because it keeps the smashed leaves at the bottom.

Springs Bounty

This year Hubby planted a huge garden again. Tomatoes, Potatoes, Squash and much more. However, in my front yard I have a few things. Last year we had what we would call a drought in Louisiana.  Because of that, even my lemon tree didn't produce. This year it has been perfect. Here are a few pictures of my goodies:

Downtown Cookie Co Review

Disclosure / Disclaimer: I received this product, free of charge, from Downtown Cookie Co. for review
purposes on this blog. No other compensation, monetary or in kind,

I was recently sent several cookies from Downtown Cookie Co. for a review. The cookies were delivered quickly in only a couple of days from when I received the email. I loved the packaging. It is cute enough that they could be sent as a gift.

The first one that I tried was the Oatmeal Raisin. Oatmeal Raisin has always been my favorite. As you can see, it is full of delicious oatmeal and lots of raisins. The cookie was moist and had a very fresh flavor. It tasted like I baked them at home.

The next one I tried was the Funfetti. I only had a small bite and let my son eat the rest. He loved it. This is the kind of cookie that kids would love. Lots of sprinkles and the flavor of a sugar cookie.

The four pack of cookies also included Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chip. Both were delicious.

I can't wait to try some of the other flavors. They even have ginger cookies and lavender cookies!

Date Night With Hubby

Hubby and I had a fantastic and well deserved night out. We started out on a slow drive to the Mississippi Coast. We drove along the beach and enjoyed the sunshine. It is about an hour and a half drive which gave us time to talk and just enjoy being together.

L.B.'S STEAKHOUSE

Dinner was all set for L.B.'s Steakhouse.
It is located in the Grand Casino in Biloxi. I had made reservations over a week before our date. L.B.'s is one of those restaurants that you are pampered. The atmosphere is romantic. The lights and music are low. We were seated in a private little spot and immediately a young man brought our glasses and water. Our server appeared. His name was Rick. Rick was fun and entertaining from the beginning. After looking over all of the choices we made our selections.

Our bread was first. It was hot and so yummy!
What's dinner without a glass of wine?
Next was our Crab Cakes. I didn't get a photo because we ate them immediately. Rick said they were the best on the coast. He was right. After the Crab Cakes, Rick brought Hubby his salad and I had the most divine Lobster Bisque. I really need the recipe for that. As soon as we were finished, our Entrees were delivered. I have to stop here to say that Rick must have have a radar. Maybe it is better to say that he is a very attentive waiter. Probably the best waiter I have ever had. He brought every course at the perfect time.
I chose the Grilled Chicken Pontchartrain, baked macaroni and cheese and vegetable variety. Doesn't this just look perfect?

We ended the night at our hotel room at a different (undisclosed location *wink*) where we were pleasantly surprised to see a jacuzzi tub. Our room had a corner view of the sunset which Hubby and I enjoyed.

It was a relaxing and wonderful night out with the love of my life. I can't wait to do it again.
